Thierry Foucault

HEC Paris (France)

Thierry Foucault is Professor of Finance at HEC Paris where he hold a chair from the HEC Foundation and a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy (CEPR). His research focuses on the determinants of financial markets liquidity, the production of information in these markets, their industrial organization, and their effect on the real economy. It is published in leading scholarly journals such as Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, or Journal of Financial Economics. In 2021, he received a grant from the European Research Council (ERC) to work on the effects of AI and big data on information production in financial markets. He has received research awards from the Louis Bachelier Institute, the HEC Foundation, and the Analysis Group award for the best paper on Financial Markets and Institutions presented at the 2009 Western Finance Association (WFA) meetings. He serves or served on the scientific committees of the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), the Norges Bank Academic Program (NBAP), the Research Foundation of the Banque de France, the Group of Economic Advisors of the Committee of Economic and Markets Analysis of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and was a member the executive committee of the European Finance Association (EFA). He is currently co-managing editor of the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis (JFQA) and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Economic Theory and the Journal of Finance, and a former Associate Editor of The Review of Financial Studies. He also served as co-editor of the Review of Finance from 2009 to 2013 and the Review of Asset Pricing Studies (RAPS). He co-authored, with Marco Pagano and Ailsa Röell, ?Market Liquidity: Theory, Evidence and Policy , a textbook on market liquidity published by Oxford University Press in 2013.

LOCAL PROGRAM COMMITTEE

Miroslav I. Mateev, PhD - Co-Chair of the World Finance & Banking Symposium, Professor of Management, and Director of Research at Abu Dhabi School of Management.


You are warmly invited to submit your research papers for consideration for presentation at the World Finance & Banking Symposium scheduled to take place on December 16th-18th, 2024, in Abu Dhabi. This three-day conference, hosted by the Abu Dhabi School of Management, aims to foster the exchange of ideas in research, teaching, and managerial practices through formal presentations, discussions, and special sessions.

AREAS OF INTEREST: The scientific and organizing committees eagerly welcome submissions in all areas of finance, economics, and banking.

Formatting Your Paper: Please use Times New Roman 12-point font, with 1.5 spacing. References may be single-spaced. Ensure that all pages of the paper are numbered. The maximum length of the paper is 50 pages, including the title page, figures, graphs, tables, appendices, and references.

To facilitate the blind review process, REMOVE ALL AUTHOR-IDENTIFYING INFORMATION, including acknowledgments, from the uploaded document. Reviewers will be reading this document without any author-identifying details. While you will include all authors associated with your submission during the submission process, this information will appear in the printed and online Program.

Double-Blind Paper Review: All papers will undergo review by at least two anonymous reviewers.

Submission Deadline: July 31st, 2024.

Authors will receive notification of the acceptance decision by August 31st, 2024.


Instructions for Paper Submission:

1. Click on the following link: Submit. If you already have an account on our platform, proceed to step 2. Otherwise, please sign up and provide your personal information.

2. Sign In or Sign Up: If you have an existing account, simply sign in. Otherwise, create a new account by signing up and entering your personal details.

3. Submission Process: Once logged in, select the option to "Submit a Paper" from the menu.

4. Proceeding Option: If you choose the "Proceeding Online" option, at the conclusion of the conference, we will compile an E-proceeding book with ISBN, containing abstracts from all these presentations. Note that only abstracts, not full papers, will be published to prevent conflicts with future journal publications.

5. Selecting Topics: During the submission process, indicate the topics of your paper. If you wish to apply for a special session or the Shark Tanks session, select the corresponding topic from the list. Additionally, if you intend to apply for the Ph.D. Tutorial Session, choose this option from the list as well.

6. Upload Your Paper: Finally, upload your paper. Please ensure that you provide two versions: one with the names of the authors and another without for blind review purposes
